This is from several years ago. It’s one of my favorite fantasy poems. I’d been reading a lot of fantasy books at that time, so that’s where the ideas for this poem came from.
The World of Stars and Moon:
The stars shine like diamonds,
The moon gleams silver,
The blackness of the night is a cloak veiling the earth in darkness,
The soft breeze rustles the branches on the tree—the leaves move against each other,
A soft swishing noise coming forth from the dark abyss,
Golden eyes shine—they turn amber—then to topaz,
The eyes are jeweled—they drop out of the space of the night on to the leaf-strewn forest floor clinking together gently,
The stars shine like diamonds,
The moon gleams silver,
The blackness of the night is a cloak veiling the earth in darkness,
And all that is come to pass, will come to pass,
And all shall be well in the World of Stars and Moon.
