Playing in the Snow

Another playful poem from several years ago.

Playing in the Snow:

I gallop through the snow,

I kick up my back heels in glee,

The sun shines down brightly,

I play in a wonderland of snow and ice,

The cold refreshes me—brings out my inner child,

I rear—I shake my head—tossing my mane from side to side,

My eyes shine with excitement—alive with a hunger for playful romping in the snow,

My hooves thud to the ground,

They send up a shower of snow,

I frolic,

I romp,

I run,

I play in the snow,

Who am I?

I am a horse—who loves to play in the snow!

Beauty of Land and Sky

A 2007 nature poem.

Beauty of Land and Sky:

Skies open up to let out the new day,

Sun shines down with golden rays,

A clear blue sky is shown today,

Winds ruffle the trees,

The air sweet as orange blossoms,

The trees with perfect brown trunks and green green leaves,

The ground covered in green grass soft to bare feet,

I look around me and see beauty throughout the land and in the sky,

And wonder how can this be—this beauty of land and sky?

The Animals’ Magic of Life

Another 2008 poem about nature.

The Animals’ Magic of Life:

The sun sets in—letting the moon come awake,

The sunrise comes about—the moon leaves her home,

The animals awake from their deep slumber—coming forth from their dwellings,

They chirrup and yawn and make their own special noises as they rise with the sun,

They scamper here and there—throughout the meadows and prairies—through the trees,

They spread their magic of life everywhere,

The animals rise with the sun,

They settle in with its setting,

And so another day goes by,

Their magic disappears with the coming darkness,

No light of their magic of life shows in the darkness,

It hides itself—fearful of the darkness—and scared without the light.
